Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)

TCM is a family of procedures using a variety of techniques that come under the general heading of Acupuncture: such as Auricular Acupuncture , Five Element Acupuncture, and the use of moxa, cupping, massage and more.

Acupuncture stimulates the natural healing responses of the body and has been used safely to treat the body for millennia.   The world we inhabit is now very fast moving and highly technological, so it is extremely beneficial for the body to take time out, and to get back to simple basics.

Acupuncture is an enjoyable treatment, and many people find it relieves them of uncomfortable symptoms, in a soothing and gentle manner. It is very beneficial for an extremely wide range of conditions and is currently recommended as a treatment option by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) for back pain. Ailments patients commonly seek treatment for are:

  • Allergies, such as hay fever
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Digestive disorders, such as acid reflux, IBS etc
  • Fatigue, tiredness
  • Infertility and menstrual disorders
  • Insomnia
  • Migraine and headaches
  • Pain management, including arthritis and rheumatism
  • Post operative pain

There is a summary of research on a very wide variety of conditions treated with TCM on the British Acupuncture Council website http://www.acupuncture.org.uk/category/a-to-z-of-conditions/a-to-z-of-conditions.html
